A nativity scene different from the classical romanticized ones we're used to. The weary, pregnant Mary had to travel far from home for the census, and gave birth to the Savior in a stable. She may have been wary of her future, and trusting that her husband Joseph understood the special nature of this Child. Of note, Mary is not the classic white, italian mother here. She is ethnic, and because she resembles a hispanic / Filipino, the painting is named aptly.
